Men we love

A quality that women have come to value in men

Back around 2010, things were simple. Men were looking for beautiful women with long legs, and women were looking for rich men with fat wallets. Of course, normal people still looked for and found someone by heart, but the trends highlighted in the press were exactly like that.

Many still write articles about exactly this, and you can easily find them carrying the bittersweet scent of bygone youth and mothballs. I, however, tend to follow trends and persistently get acquainted with new movements. And I dare assure you that over the past 15 years, the situation has changed a lot, at least on the women's side. Here's how. There are, so to speak, eternal values. For example, decency. People choose it most often because who would voluntarily want to deal with an indecent person? I wouldn’t even include this quality in a survey, because it’s like asking: “Do you want your husband to sleep under the fence and drink kerosene?” Or "Do you want your husband to sacrifice goats on Fridays?" Or even "Do you want your husband to regularly grunt after lunch?"

No sane person wants an immoral husband! What’s immoral is no longer a husband. Like soured milk, it’s no longer milk, just some kind of curd. Or take fidelity. Most women prefer faithful men (all else being equal). A faithful and rich man is preferable to a rich one alone. A faithful and handsome man is preferable to a handsome one alone. Even an ordinary man without special achievements, a "gray man" type, gains a lot from fidelity, even if it’s his only plus, and even that from laziness. The exception is the wives of an average Joe. But there aren’t that many of them, at least on a national scale, for now. I think they should be described exclusively within the framework of sexopathology.

Clearly, everyone is sinful, and violations happen on both sides quite often. But when it comes to preferences, it would be strange to ignore this point. Or intelligence. Of course, you’d want your partner not to be stupid. At the very least, to be on your level, or even a bit higher in some areas. Many dates didn’t happen simply because a woman couldn’t stand reading someone’s illiterate messages. By the way, I recently read that a kiwi bird can live up to 60 years if it isn’t eaten by predators. And a resident of some European cities lives, on average, to 61. And if the intellectual aspect wasn’t important to us, guess who women would choose… For example, I’ve never seen a kiwi bird get drunk before visiting its mother-in-law, feed a child ice cream outside in the winter, or put dirty socks on the dining table.

All these qualities matter. But one quality, in recent years, has shown the biggest, unprecedented growth. If the trend continues for even a couple more years, it will become the absolute leader. So let’s talk about that. This is also evident in the fact that he is more often chosen by young women, and it is they who will make up the cohort of brides in the coming years. This quality is independence and self-sufficiency. Yes, women appreciate self-sufficient men who can function on their own. Or how else should this be understood? Here are some definitions people give online: 'A sign of male independence is the ability to make an independent decision in any life situation, take action to implement that decision, and be able to take responsibility for the consequences.

'Hello, my husband and I have been married for 3 years. He is 5 years older than me (he’s 30), and we have a 2-year-old son. I feel like my husband sees me as his mother. I’m tired of it; it all leads to my breakdowns and fights. I constantly have to push him to do something; if you don’t push, he might not do it for half a year.' 'In yesterday’s topics, it came up that some husbands buy clothes or shoes for themselves without their wives. I got curious: how many men like that are there at all?' Such husbands? Do you have one like that? Some women are scared off by this situation. But every year, there are fewer and fewer of them. A desirable man is a man who takes responsibility, at least for himself. By the way, men, why do you freak out 100% of the time at the word 'responsibility'? What’s so scary about it? And if he can also share responsibility for a child... The future belongs to independent men - care, by the way, has also become much more valued. Isn't that what we should focus on? Do you agree?
